F.A.R.M.S. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering aging rural farmers and underserved landowners. We provide essential legal, technical, and educational support to protect their farmland and ensure the future of their family legacy. Our work directly addresses critical issues like Medicaid liens on property, heirs' property disputes, and land loss that disproportionately affect rural farmers and ranchers.
By focusing on sustainable agriculture practices and farm business consulting, we strengthen food security and improve the long-term viability of small farms.
How Does F.A.R.M.S. Help Farmers with Medicaid Liens?
Medicaid liens can threaten a family's ownership of their agricultural land. These liens are a complex legal issue, particularly for elderly rural farmers who may need long-term care. F.A.R.M.S. provides legal services and estate planning for farmers to help them understand and navigate these challenges. We work to prevent Medicaid estate recovery from forcing the sale of family farmland, ensuring the land can be passed down to the next generation. Our experts offer guidance on asset protection strategies and provide clear, actionable information to help you protect your farm from liens.
