F.A.R.M.S. TO FOOD BANKS

DONATED NEARLY 3 MILLION POUNDS OF FRESH PRODUCE

The F.A.R.M.S. to Food Bank program is a vital part of our mission to create a resilient food system that serves all communities. We are dedicated to fighting food insecurity, hunger, and food waste by establishing a direct pipeline between rural farmers and food-insecure communities. This initiative transforms excess produce from farms into nutritious meals for families, bypassing traditional supply chains that often leave rural areas under-served.

From Farm to Food Bank: Cultivating Community Food Security

Understanding the Hunger Gap

A significant and often overlooked disparity exists between rural and urban hunger. While the public perception of hunger often centers on urban poverty, rural communities disproportionately face higher rates of food insecurity. According to recent data from organizations like Feeding America, nine out of ten counties with the highest food insecurity rates are rural. This rural hunger gap is exacerbated by factors like:

  • Geographic isolation: Limited access to grocery stores and food pantries.

  • Economic instability: Lower wages and higher rates of underemployment in agricultural regions.

  • Infrastructure challenges: Lack of public transportation to access food resources.

In the U.S., the top five states with the highest rates of household food insecurity are Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. These states, located primarily in the rural South, highlight the urgent need for targeted hunger relief efforts. Globally, the situation is dire, with countries like Haiti, Sudan, Mali, South Sudan, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories facing the most severe levels of hunger due to conflict and climate crises.

Our Impact and How You Can Help

Our F.A.R.M.S. to Food Bank program directly addresses these critical issues. We don’t just move food; we build a sustainable model that benefits both producers and consumers. We leverage our network to purchase surplus produce, ensuring farmers receive income for their crops, while simultaneously providing fresh, healthy food to those in need.

Our efforts have seen remarkable success, but our work is far from over. While we have secured grant funding to support our operations, this support is often limited and cannot meet the full scale of the need. We rely on donations to directly purchase from small family farms and deliver food to rural families and kids. Your contribution directly supports both agribusiness development and humanitarian aid, creating a dual-impact model that strengthens local economies and nourishes communities.

Join us in our mission to fight food insecurity by supporting our F.A.R.M.S. to Food Bank program. Your donation helps us provide a lifeline to rural communities and ensures that no family, especially children, goes to bed hungry.

we have been feeding
rural families for over a decade

Since 2013 we have been feeding rural communities around the world. Our hunger relief programming has led to the purchase of over three million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables being donated through our program partners in over 20 U.S. states and over five countries including Barbados, Haiti, India, Trinidad, and Sierra Leone. Our longest running program outside of the US is in Sierra Leone where we have worked for six years.
